The Forbidden Kingdom Movie Review
BOTTOM LINE: This is a very well executed and visually stunning fantasy kung fu, martial arts supplies big-up team of Jackie Chan and Jet Li on screen for the first time. It was only disappointed by a weak opening and closing, which is unfortunately necessary, to take his "Never Ending Story"-style premise of the land.
Well, I had no expectations walking into this movie and I was pleasantly surprised. This was Asian KungImagination, on a visual level is much more expensive than it is to maintain a solid story, fun characters, spectacular images, brilliant choreography and of course some kung-fu, the better is the fact that we see both Jackie Chan and Jet Li fight together for the first time in a movie. There is a simple story at the center, Jason (Michael Angarano), stumbles in the Forbidden Kingdom to buy a rod of gold in a pawn shop in Chinatownsends him into a fantastic world of Monkey King, immortal and kung-fu fighters. He is saved by drunken immortal Lu Yan (Jackie Chan), after a battle with the soldiers of the Jade Warlord (Collin Chou). Lu Yan tells Jason that the staff of gold which port is one of the Monkey King (Jet Li), the battle with the warlords were Jade, but for the renunciation of its employees and has always deceived into a statue. If the staff is returned to the statue, the Monkey Kingreleased.
Along with orphan warrior Golden Sparrow (Liu Yi Fen () and monk played by Jet Li), Lu Yan and Jason walk through the Forbidden Kingdom, the staff of the Monkey King's statue back. This story contains a great set piece sequences of kung-fu, but perhaps the best cover the fight between Chan and Li first expects as much fun as it is, as we see these two masters of martial arts cross elegantly across the screen in myriad battle is going.Apart from the Kung-Fu movie has some spectacular images, a fantastic comic quality that not only landscapes, but with the characters as examples of the Monkey King and the white-haired witch Ni Chang (Li Bingbing), which is perfectly on-screen to represent both the players and the makeup and wardrobe departments. The characters are well rounded. The funniest character is one of Jackie Chan, his drunken immortal, is bothlethal and highly entertaining all at the same time. Jet Li is also great in his dual role, and has an amazing quality of a mischievous Monkey King. Liu Yi Fen has a strong presence of women in their role of Golden Sparrow, as well as Ni Chang as the White Witch. Collin Chou as Jade Warlord is great. Even Jason, who appears first as a burdensome nerd looks very good. Overall, this is a solid entertaining movie that take you away from reality for a few hours and isDelight you with some impressive kung fu and fantasy.
THE BAD: All the scenes that take place in the fantasy world are too weak. Jason's up there where we see him on a Never Ending Story Bastian travel in style when he goes into a pawn shop in Chinatown, the old kung fu movies and stumbles over Monkey King's Golden employee, who then has transported by magic in fantasy. Although it is modern and edgy as "The Never Ending Story," these scenes are verysimilar creep-worthy, especially with the bat, pick up Jason and the eventual resolution of this story at the end of the movie with Jason always the back, putting her newly acquired skills of kung fu on them. There are some touches of Nice, the characters in the fantasy world are the corresponding characters in the world of Jason, but ultimately, these scenes make the film because of their youth nerdiness. The motivation of the biggest clubs, the old Chinese owner of shootsPawnshop seems well over the top of a high school bad boy, but does not guarantee a nice gesture, if the owners ancient Chinese, who also plays Jackie Chan says he was not surprised that he survived because he has immortalized .
