"Lost in Translation" Makes the Meaning of Life Sound Elusive

Lost in Translation – 2 stars (average)

This was written and directed by Sofia Coppola and won enough awards to fill a shopping cart.

The independent film was Sofia Coppola an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and also had 2003 Oscar nominations for best film (after "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King", bad timing for Sofia won), Best Director (Peter Jackson won for The Lord of the Rings) and Bill Murray as Best Actor (won by Sean Penn in "MysticRiver ").

Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" has lost that appointment Murray. I would vote for Johnny Depp as Best Actor Sean Penn. Sofia Coppola won the Golden Globe Awards creation for Best Film, Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Bill Murray), and received nominations for Best Director and Best Actress (Scarlett Johansson). Winning the Oscar, was at 70 wins and 58 nominations for more information. To say, Sofia CoppolaFoundation has been praised by critics would be a great understatement. See this film, I never thought he had won many awards.

Sofia Coppola wrote the lead role specifically for Bill Murray, and later said that when Murray refused, they would have canceled the project. Was nothing if not durable in the recruitment of Murray for the role. In 1999, Murray apparently replaced his talent agency with an answering machine and an 800 number that gives out sparingly. CoppolaAccording to reports, hundreds of messages before Murray finally let his call to offer to speak of him as the star of the cast too. Coppola apparently knows something selecting actors who win awards.

Lost in Translation Bob Harris (Bill Murray), an American actor fade following a dull marriage, serving in Tokyo for a Japanese whiskey commercials. He meets Charlotte (Scarlett Johansson), a recent graduate in philosophy at the university and the bored wife of a photographer while in a shootoutTokyo.

They develop an unlikely friendship when the language barrier, the surface of Japanese culture and her own discontent. When it's time for them to resume a normal life again, so it will be difficult. Sofia Coppola gives me a lot of credit for not writing the script in a sexual relationship between the two. In Hollywood, it would be like taking the financier, the money and not worship at his feet.

Coppola had their way, because only one independent film that cost 4 million U.S. dollarsdo, was shot in 27 days and earned 44.5 million U.S. dollars at last count.

The opening of the film has a slow shot of Scarlett Johansson (as Charlotte), lying sideways on the bed in her panties. Johansson was shot films apparently reluctant to Sofia Coppola modeled the panties themselves.

Fortunately, this opening was not a precursor of the cinema, exploring an important issue: the meaning of life required. As two people unhappy in their roles, both Murray andJohansson struggles to find the true meaning in their current situation. What happens in their exploration is really nothing special. As a spectator, I was waiting to see if their relationship was because he met in any results, or alone.

This is why I gave this film an average rating, rather than an assessment of good or very good. I wanted real substance in this film, I could say that in my daily life, and I was missing. How strange it is that Bob andCharlotte has never faced each other, despite spending days together watching their mutual unhappy situations? Which makes no sense to me whatsoever, and not ring true in real life.

Despite winning an Oscar for his original screenplay, Sofia Coppola is not stuff that people expect. Hollywood distributes awards for their efforts and for me it is only because it reflects Hollywood called Tinseltown, entertainment, confusion and stress, with no real substance.

UltimatelyBoth characters seek meaning in their lives. One viewer wrote this about the film: "Overall, the film is simply perfect. The quality, direction, and the soundtrack, plot, themes, humor, photos … what is that? " This is not like: people who are trying to find true love rarely. People who are looking for the perfect mate has never been the ideal partner. People who try to find the true meaning of life rarely is.

The reason is simple: do not try to bring meaning to your lifeMeaning in your life, you bring meaning to give life a meaning to your life. Life does not come to you, come to life, or we become unhappy, dissatisfied person. When we blame others our ability to change. Lost in Translation ", has some great scenes of Tokyo, but as images in a photo album, they reflect only the means that it is possible to get them.
